Post-Minimalism
Post-minimalistic music is categorized by the addition and subtraction of elements without traditional functional tonality, similar to Minimalism, except there is not a clear line. The period hit its peak in the 1980s and 1990s with composers such as Danny Elfman, John Adams, and many more.

- Eclectic: taking from a variety of sources
- Metric modulation: a change in tempo and/or subdivision
- Harmonic rhythm: how quickly chords change
- Sound effect: what sounds are organized around
- Components of electronic music: foreground, middle ground, and background
- Lack of obvious line
Sibelius' 5th Symphony
The roots of Post-Minimalistic music comes from pieces such as Sibelius' Fifth Symphony, where we see examples of metric modulation and gradual changes in the music.
